Non UL/FM Jockey Pump
-
Controllers for Jockey Pumps are available for across-the-line starting
-
In a fire pump system, occasional water leakage at flanged or threaded connections, valve stems, or stuffing boxes can gradually lower system pressure, requiring the main fire pump to start
-
To prevent unnecessary wear, a Jockey Pump with a small motor, pump, and controller/pressure switch is installed in the piping system.
-
When water pressure falls below the pre-set level, the pressure switch activates a starter that turns on the Jockey Pump, ensuring the water pressure is consistently maintained
-
An optional minimum run timer can prevent the Jockey Pump from starting too frequently by ensuring it runs for at least 2 minutes, by ensuring it runs for at least 2 minutes.
-
If a fire occurs, the pressure will continue to drop, triggering the main Fire Pump to start, automatic controllers also feature a "Hand-off Automatic" selector switch for manual operation.
